How To Update The Graphics Driver On Windows! Detailed Report!

Learn how to update your graphics drivers on Windows safely without the hassles of digging through the manufacturer’s website.

Windows reinstalls are often necessary to fix driver problems. However, you can avoid this by installing updates as they are released. The graphics card driver is not compatible with previous versions of Windows, so it helps to install updates for these drivers when prompted during an upgrade or clean installation. 

You can also force the update by downloading the appropriate version from your GPU’s website and installing it manually.

If you have been experiencing problems with your computer, such as slow performance, freezes, and crashes, it may be a sign of outdated graphics card drivers. In this article, you will learn how to update the graphics driver on Windows 10.

Steps To Update The Graphics Driver On Windows

1. Open the Windows Update control panel. The icon will be located in the taskbar, and you can launch it by searching “Windows Update” from the Start Menu:

Click the “Change Settings” icon and select the “Install updates from a list” option.

You might have to click on “Change Settings .” from this menu to launch the control panel.

2. In the left navigation panel, click on “Download latest drivers for your computer. “

Note: Please note that your graphics card manufacturer’s website might also contain instructions to update your drivers. Please check the instructions on the manufacturer’s website before downloading and installing any driver software. For example, on the AMD (ATI) and NVIDIA (NVIDIA) websites, you will find specific instructions on installing the latest drivers for your GPU.

3. Select one of the two choices that appear in the window: “I just want driver software” or “I want the latest drivers, “and then click “Next. “

If you select “I want driver software, “a file browser will open where you can download the latest driver. Click “Next” to install it.

4. Click “Finish. “

5. Click “Restart Now “if the installation was successful.

6. With your computer powered on, click “Start,” then “All Programs, “then “AMD Catalyst”. 

If you don’t see AMD Catalyst or other graphics card manufacturer’s names in the list, you might need to check the “Show hidden folders” option in the Advanced Settings if you installed any drivers manually.

7. Click on “View all updates. ” A window will open with a list of recent driver updates. Click on any one of them to download it.

8. After downloading, go to “Driver Installation “and open the folder with the downloaded driver.

9. Double-click on the downloaded driver to install it.

Note: If you install the Graphics Drivers, you should also install the AMD Catalyst Control Center (CCC) software. The CCC software will help optimize your graphics card for gaming and other applications.

10. Follow the prompts to complete the installation process. After successful installation, restart your computer. The update should be complete!

11. If you see “The user is in recovery mode,” press Enter or click “OK” to continue. You will be back on the “AMD Catalyst Control Center” screen.

Note: If you don’t see “The user is in recovery mode,” wait for about 15 minutes and restart your computer.

12. Select the software you would like to launch when Windows starts (AMD Catalyst Control Center or whatever software you installed).
