Piyush Goyal appointed leader of the ruling party in Rajya Sabha

Piyush Goyal will be the leader of Rajya Sabha

Union Minister Piyush Goyal will be the new leader of the ruling party in the Rajya Sabha. He will replace Thaawarchand Gehlot, who has been recently appointed as the Governor of Karnataka. Goyal was still now holding the post of Deputy Leader of the ruling party, so he has a lot of experience in the proceedings of the House. Goyal, handling three ministries, including commerce and industry, has won this post by defeating many BJP leaders.

Among the leaders who defeated Piyush Goyal in the competition for the leader of the Rajya Sabha, the recently inducted Labor Minister Bhupendra Yadav is also included in the cabinet. Yadav is an experienced leader and has a good knowledge of parliamentary rules. According to an Alpha News Call report, Yadav is likely to be made the deputy leader of the Rajya Sabha. Apart from this, the new Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, was also included in the competition.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was also in the competition to become the leader of the Rajya Sabha on behalf of the government. She is the country’s first full-time Finance Minister and the only woman in the Cabinet Committee on Security. She has also worked with Arun Jaitley, who was Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha before Gehlot. However, these things also did not work for Sitharaman, and in the end, Goyal won.

According to government sources, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Piyush Goyal’s name will be submitted to Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu. This decision may be stamped before the start of the monsoon session on July 19.

Recently the Leader of Opposition of Rajya Sabha has also been changed. After completing the tenure of Ghulam Nabi Azad, Congress has made Mallikarjun Kharge the new leader. He has also been the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
