Timings Of Ramadan In The UAE
Although the dates of the Ramadan month remain the same throughout the globe, the fasting duration will not be the same everywhere. The reason behind it is the variation in sunrise and sunset.
As per the Islamic rules, one should have food, called Sehri, before sunrise, at dawn. On the other hand, the ending of the fast marks celebrating the day with the observation of Iftar. It occurs after sunset. But as we all know, the geographical locations cause the sun to rise and set at various times in different places. Hence, the Muslims also decide the timings and duration of the fasting based on these positions.
The celebration of Eid-Al-Fitr will take place on a subsequent day after the end of the Ramadan month. This time the day of Eid is on 2nd May 2022.
Working Hours In the UAE
As per the current changed working system of the UAE, people have to consider Friday to be a half working day. There will not be any holiday for the Muslims either during Ramadan month. Only the worshippers will get the predetermined breaks for having the Iftar.
However, to make the situation more comfortable, the Federal Government announced two hours less work from Monday to Thursday. This rule applies to the private sector only.
Furthermore, the working hours will begin from 9 AM and continue till Noon on Fridays. Another alternative option will also prevail on the flexible Fridays for the federal employees. 40% of the population can work remotely without hampering the organization’s normal workflow. These announcements made the citizens quite happy. Before the day of Eid-Al-Fitr, all workers and employees of the UAE will get a consecutive five-day off. Thus, undoubtedly, the celebration is going to be a grand one.
Duration Of The Fast
Fajr is the first prayer of the day during Ramadan month, ensuring the beginning of fasting. Similarly, the last prayer of the day at dusk is Maghrib. The worshippers can break the fast by taking Iftar after this prayer. In the UAE, the duration of fasting is about 14 hours. However, this time period keeps increasing from the first day till the last day of the month. As per the timetable of the Mosques, an average of 14 hours and 20 minutes is the time of the fasting. However, this is 13 hours 40 minutes approximately at the beginning of the month.
