Hardoi: Woman accidentally shoots self while clicking selfie with gun

A 26-year old woman died from a gunshot while taking a selfie with a single barrel gun on Thursday night in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh.

The woman’s in-laws say that the gun’s trigger was accidentally pressed while being photographed, due to which she died. On the other hand, the woman’s family members have accused her in-laws that their daughter was shot dead for dowry.

According to Aaj Tak, this incident is from the Hardoi district. The name of the deceased woman is Radhika Gupta, who has married two months ago to Akash, who lived here.

ASP Kapil Dev Singh said that an incident of a husband and wife allegedly firing while taking a selfie has come to the fore. In this, the woman died. The family of the deceased has demanded registration of a case alleging murder.

He said the police had seized the gun and mobile phones of the husband and wife, and the forensic team have also collected some evidence. The investigation is being done, keeping all the facts in mind.

The police have registered an FIR on the complaint by the deceased woman’s father, and her husband, mother-in-law, and brother-in-law have been accused. The family demands that this case should be investigated from the angle of murder for dowry.

On the other hand, the in-laws say that a gun was fired while taking the photo, due to which the woman died. The police are proceeding based on the statements of both parties.

Many pictures of the woman are being shared on social media, in which she is seen with guns. It is being said that due to careless pressing of the trigger while clicking the photo can also cause death. The bullet had pierced the woman’s neck, and doctors declared her brought dead on her way to the hospital. It is being told that the gun was brought home an hour before the time when the woman died.
