Kozhikode: Three members of the gang who kidnapped a gold carrier in Koyilandy have been arrested. Noushad, Mohammad Saleh and Saifuddin have been arrested by the police. Ashraf, a native of Koyilandy, was abducted two days ago. Ashraf had told police that he had worked as a carrier, which led to the abduction.
The militants brutally tortured Ashraf. The youth who was abducted from Koyilandy Uralloor was found this morning from Kunnamangalam in Kozhikode district. It is learned that he was abandoned here and passed away by the mob. He was reportedly detained at a wood mill in Mavoor yesterday.
At the same time, the circumstances make it clear that Ashraf was subjected to severe torture by the militant group. Ashraf’s left leg was broken, and his body was cut with a blade. He also has bruises on his body. The injured Ashraf is undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Medical College.
Adding to the seriousness of the case is the fact that the Karipur gold smuggling case was reported to have been kidnapped again as the investigation progressed. The brother approached the police stating that a group had abducted Ashraf. Ashraf was a recent expatriate. Earlier, the police had concluded that Ashraf was involved in gold smuggling and that the gold smuggling mafia was behind the incident.
His brother had alleged that Ashraf had brought the gold and had abducted him at gunpoint, threatening not to bring it to Koduvalli. Ashraf’s brother Siddique approached the Koyilandy police with a complaint. Ashraf was found today after the DySP reached the Koyilandy police station on the instructions of the Vadakara Rural SP.
