Over 2,000 cops test positive in Uttarakhand, 90% vaccinated with both doses

According to information released by the Uttarakhand Police, 2,382 police personnel have tested positive for Covid-19 in the state and five have succumbed to the virus.

More than 2,300 Uttarakhand Police personnel tested positive for Covid-19 in the second wave, and 93 per cent of them had received both doses of the vaccine before contracting the infection, and 5 have lost their lives due to the virus. According to the data, two of the five policemen who died had comorbidities. The other three were not vaccinated.

When asked about a large number of infections, DIG (law and order) and Uttarakhand police chief spokesperson Nilesh Anand Bharne said that serious problems and casualties remain low. Bharne said that even vaccine manufacturers have admitted that vaccine does not guarantee that one will not test positive after receiving doses.

“The percentage of the police personnel who became positive after being vaccinated is 93 per cent, but they haven’t succumbed, and that is positive news for us. Despite all these mishaps and problems, the police personnel are working very hard and doing their duty,” he added.

Despite all these mishaps and problems, the police personnel are working very hard and doing their duty. According to DIG Bharne, the police officers contracted the infection while serving people as part of the state police’s ‘Mission Hausla’ campaign. Last month, the Uttarakhand launched a drive called ‘Mission Hausla’ to help people access medical oxygen, beds, and plasma for Covid-19 patients. Besides this, the police have also been helping the public in getting ration, ambulances, cremation of bodies as part of the mission.
