England & Wales Cricket Board reports loss of over one billion rupees due to COVID-19 last year

On Tuesday, The England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) reported that they lost 16.1 million pounds (about one billion and 68 crore rupees) due to Coronavirus last year.

According to the report, the board has suffered significant economic losses due to COVID-19.

To make a cricket comeback, the previous Summer ECB had spent a lot to create a bio-bubble.

According to reports, the ECB’s revenue due to COVID-19 has come down from 207 million pounds (21 billion and 50 crore rupees) to 21 million pounds (two billion and 18 crore rupees). The board had invested significantly more in its new franchise league, The Hundred, but got cancelled due to Corona. Losses in all types of cricket, including first-class cricket, exceed 100 million pounds (about 10 billion and 38 crore rupees).

The ECB was in great danger.

It is was told that the ECB has saved itself from going into great trouble by organising international cricket. Cricket returned in July last year amid the Corona epidemic.

England hosted the West Indies team for the three-Test series. After this, Ireland, Pakistan and Australia also toured England. In September, the women’s team also hosted the West Indies.

ECB could have lost about 40 billion rupees

If the ECB had lost the entire summer due to Corona, they could have lost 380 million pounds (39 billion rupees and 46 crore rupees).

“This has been a challenging year, but by being able to stage international cricket and by taking decisive action early in the pandemic, we have been able to support the network and avoid a far worse financial scenario,” said Scott Smith, the ECB’s chief financial officer.

In the 2019-20 season, ECB had a profit of about 68 crores.

The ECB recorded 228 million pounds (23 billion and 67 crore rupees) turnover in the 2019-20 season. He had a profit of 6.5 million pounds (about 68 crores rupees). Apart from this, the cash reserve increased from 11.2 million pounds (one billion and 16 crore rupees) to 17.1 million pounds (about one billion and 78 crore rupees). In the 2019 Cricket World Cup, the men’s and women’s Ashes played a key role.
