‘Haldi’ did not get leave; Police conducted a ceremony at the station

Jaipur: Colleagues performed the Haldi ceremony at the station itself as they did not get leave for the wedding ceremony. A woman police constable in Dungarpur, Rajasthan, was not on leave due to rising COVID disease.

Sangeeth and Haldi are North Indian ceremonies performed by uniformed policemen on behalf of a colleague. The video shows male and female colleagues at the station picking up their fiance in a chair, circling her, applying turmeric and performing traditional songs and rituals.

In Rajasthan, 15,398 new COVID cases and 64 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours. The total disease rate in the state is 4,83,273 and the death toll is 3,453. Since then, the state has imposed more restrictions on essential services.

As COVID’s second wave continues to be more deadly and powerful, there is intense pressure on the country’s health care system and top officials, including the police.
