Wasim Rizvi, former chairman of the Shia Waqf Board, has received a big hue from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has rejected Wasim Rizvi’s petition to remove 26 verses from the Quran. Along with this, petitioner Wasim Rizvi has also imposed a fine of 50 thousand rupees. On March 11, Wasim Rizvi filed a petition in the Supreme Court stating that the 26 verses of the Quran promote violence and terrorism. The petition was heard by a bench headed by Justice Rohinton Nariman.
The bench headed by Justice RF Nariman in the Supreme Court while hearing the petition of Wasim Rizvi for the removal of 26 verses from the Quran, termed the petition as unfounded. During the hearing, the Supreme Court dismissed the petition and also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the petitioner Wasim Rizvi.
Wasim Rizvi had said in the petition filed in the Supreme Court that 26 verses of the Quran promote violence and terrorism and that the verses are taught in the madrasas, thereby misguiding the children studying in the madrasas. By teaching and explaining these verses, terrorists are prepared at the international level.
Wasim Rizvi also said in the petition that these 26 verses also promotes bigotry which may threaten the unity and integrity of the country. Wasim Rizvi also claimed in the petition that these 26 verses were added later in the Quran.
Muslim organizations across the country had objected to the petition of Wasim Rizvi and demanded action against the petitioner Rizvi. The National Minorities Commission also objected to the petition, calling it an attempt to spoil the communal harmony notice to Wasim Rizvi. Was released.
Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawwad also announced the exclusion of Wasim Rizvi from the Shia community. Wasim Rizvi’s family also protested against him leaving. An FIR was also registered in this case on Wasim Rizvi in several districts across the country.
