‘Cyber fraud’: Aadhaar and OTP are being demanded from senior people in the name of Corona Vaccine

Corona vaccination has started for the general public. People above 60 years of age and those above 45 years suffering from serious illness are getting vaccinated. Meanwhile, a case of cheating with senior people in the name of the vaccine has come to light. The fraudsters are talking to the people by becoming an officer of the Drug Authority of India. He tells people that they have been selected for vaccination.

He receives personal information such as the Aadhaar number, OTP from his name, and emptying his bank account.

According to a senior cyber officer, the fraudsters call the seniors and tell them that they have been selected for the corona vaccination campaign. To confirm this, they will have to share the Aadhaar number.

After sharing the Aadhaar number, they receive a one-time password (OTP). As soon as it is shared, money is being blown out of people’s accounts.

The government also warned people about such fraudsters. PIB FaxCheck tweeted that some fraudsters claiming to be from the Drug Authority of India call senior citizens to confirm their Aadhaar and OTP for corona vaccine allocation. Never share OTP and personal details with such telecallers.

Police officials have also alerted people to this. They have said that if anyone receives a call from an unknown person who asks for your personal or bank information, please inform the local police or cyber police, who will investigate the matter.

Beneficiaries can book appointments for the vaccine through the Covin portal.

Those wishing to get vaccinated will have to register themselves. For this, you can register yourself on the COVIN 2.0 portal. Registration can be done on the Kovin website through the Arogya Setu App. You can register for the vaccine by visiting the website COWIN.GOV.IN directly. Apart from this, you can register by visiting the nearest vaccination center.
